Starting the New Year with a new outlook! It was five months ago when I decided to make some lifestyle changes, first and foremost improving my overall health and fitness. Growing up, I was always very active and involved in sports. However, as a young professional out of college, my focus changed and I found myself working long hours – neglecting my health.

 

Earlier this summer, my goal was simply to get back to being an athlete! I researched various trainers, gyms, classes, and boot camps trying to find the best program that would fit perfectly with my schedule. “I am sleeping better than ever before.”

 

My goal for hiring Ray was a little different than most. I am a physician. I have been working out in the gym for 30 years. I injured my back in February 2008 sustaining a lower vertebral fracture with severe sciatica. I tried physical therapy, chiropractor treatment, acupuncture, epidural injections, swimming, and gym work on my own. The treatments were harmful, not helpful or just gave temporary relief. Two orthopedic surgeons and one neurosurgeon recommended surgery. Surgery would have meant at least 4 months out of work and an 85% chance of improvement. I decided against surgery. In January 2009 I started working out with Ray twice a week. It is by far the best investment I have ever made. Ray is very knowledgeable about anatomy, diet and physical injuries. He has given me a program not only in the gym, but also with diet at home. His meal program is fabulous. Ray’s understanding of meal frequency and relationships of protein, carbohydrate, and fat proportions is above that of most dieticians. During the workout, Ray stays focused on you, the client, not spending your time by conversing with others.

 

His encouragement during the workout has pushed me to greater gains with my core strength and cardiovascular fitness than ever before. He has the ability to structure each work out around any minor injuries and pain I may be experiencing on any certain day. This has to do with what I consider to be his very good knowledge of anatomy and sports injuries. I am sleeping better than ever before. My wife, my 8-year-old son, and I are pleased with my much-improved mood. I am almost 100% pain free. I am back coaching both baseball and swimming, teaching my son basketball, and enjoying most sports with my family.

I have read several of the testimonials on Ray’s web site. I can see where each would be true. I feel we are very fortunate to have someone of Ray’s caliber able to provide such needed services to our community. I would highly recommend Ray to any appropriate patient of mine. I started training with Ray in late December of ’07. While, planning a wedding, full-time work, buying a house and the busy pace of life got in the way of my once regular workouts and I wanted to change that quickly! When Ray and I first met, I quickly realized that he was going to be the right fit for me. Within, my first workout I realized that I had made the right choice. His workouts are dynamic, thoughtful and are tailored to exactly what I wanted to work on. Ray does this by really listening to his clients; he takes the time to get to know you. I feel that Ray really pays attention to the people he trains and makes sure that he is constantly testing their abilities. He tests you, but does not let you fail. Even if you think you are at your limit, you get what I call “Ray help” and he pushes you that much more. But, that is where the results are and I have seen results. I was not interested in loosing weight so much, but I went from a solid size 6 to a size 4 in about 12 weeks and feel great. In fact, the seamstress told me that she could not take in my wedding dress in anymore. In addition, Ray’s food program is easy to follow, specific for you and very simple to shop for. The wedding is now over, but 3 weeks of vacation have put me back in the gym training with Ray. I recommend Ray to anyone who just needs that kick-start and is looking to get serious about his or her health and well-being.

“After working with Ray, I am down to a size 2…”

 

After losing some weight on my own, I was at a crossroads. I could not figure out how to achieve a toned body. I asked my co-worker how she liked her personal trainer Ray Vargas. She explained how her and her husband had benefited from Ray. After listening to her and researching the ISOTONEX web page I decided to give Ray a call. After our consultation, I knew Ray could help me achieve my goals. I have high body fat, high blood pressure and the eating habits of a 12 year old. At 46, this is a recipe for disaster and an early grave. Riding horses and very long days at shows made me realize I needed better balance as well as a body that can endure. After working with Ray, my body fat dropped almost 2%, blood pressure is finally normal after 15yrs of it being unacceptable. My balance and endurance have improved tremendously. I have muscle I never knew existed and have created healthy eating habits I can sustain for life. My husband has benefited as well. By seeing how motivated I am, it was contagious. He has dropped 50 lbs now. I had gone from a size 14 to a size 8 before I met Ray and thought that was as good as it gets. After working with Ray, I am down to a a size 2. I have exceeded any pre-conceived expectations because Ray pushes you past anything you think possible.

Ray is professional, knowledgeable and most of all keeps it interesting and fun. I feel fortunate to have found him. My only regret is that I waited so long to get started.
